It could be 3am, you could be home or away on vacation, it could be a little leak or a real "gusher", the WaterCop team works 24 hours a day, 365 days a year protecting your property from water damage caused by most plumbing leaks.
"I returned from a two-week trip to London on business. Great trip, but I was glad to be home. When I went to wash up I noticed the water wasn't running. A quick trip to the utility room told me why. My washer hose had sprung a leak. If I hadn't had the WaterCop, most of the contents of my forty-gallon hot water heater would have poured out. The electric valve shut off the water supply so the tank didn't continuously refill and result in an overflow and an expensive bill for cleanup, wasted gas ... or maybe even an explosion from the gas buildup."
Every Year more than 250,000 families have their homes ruined and their lives overturned by water damage and the subsequent repairs. Some of the leading causes of water damage range from broken and frozen pipes to leaky appliances. Approximately 5 million water heaters, another notorious culprit, rupture on an annual basis. It is estimated that washing machine hose failures alone account for more than $150 million worth of damage each year to homes in the United States and Canada. "I was out in my backyard working in my garden, when I went into
the house I found over a foot of water in my newly finished basement family
room. We could not find the shut-off valve right away and when we
did, it would not turn. We called the water department, 30 minutes
later they shut the water off in the street. By this time my big
screen television was almost floating..."
The Wall Street Journal has featured several articles about cancellations
of homeowners insurance. Insurance claims, especially plumbing related,
can cause cancellation of insurance sometimes making a house uninsurable.
Allied/Nationwide amended a homeowner's policy to put a $10,000 cap on
mold and mildew litigation. A recent customer noted $36,000 worth
of damage due to a leaking refrigerator water dispenser. Another
customer's damage from a slowly leaking dishwasher resulted in the floor
joists and most of the interior of his vacation home being removed.
With water damage accounting for upwards of 30% of all residential insurance
claims - often reaching thousands of dollars each - the WaterCop
essentially pays for itself with its first detection.
Investing in a WaterCop
system is a great way to prevent water damage.
